They had closed Highway 76 between Dibble and Lindsay because of the fires just North of town(Lindsay). I had to take another small, 2 lane highway( 59b), that stupid thing can barely fit my UPS truck. Fires were in Pernell, Velma and Ratliff City
I lost a few shingles and one of my roof vents blew off… i will make repairs myself then move on.

Checking my back fence this morning and it is time to get busy on the overhaul. Wood stockade fence and I started replacing the cross bars with treated 2 x 4 and will move the brackets to them as I get enough. Last time we had the fence replaced we had them use metal post so they will be there for many years. Just have to replace the stringers then slats.
Found a couple of raised shingles but I will have to wait until the wife has gone somewhere to fix them. Some reason her and my docs freak out if I get on the roof. Been doing it all my life, I do not see why I can not now.
Put some straw down around the perimeter of your house. Heard it will keep the melon from splitting open if it falls instead of hitting hard dirt. 
It pays to have a rubber when you need it
