When I get up the first thing I do is check the weather for the day,,,
When the weather app said it was going to be,,,
Calm winds, light overcast, and 70 degrees,,,
I immediately decided to go "chuting".

I texted my best range buddy and lo and behold,,,
He could actually get away for a range trip.

I took handguns this time,,,
Selecting a few that I hadn't fired in a while.

Pair of Kel-Tec P17's in .22 LR
Beretta 950 Jetfire in .25 ACP
Beretta 85B in .380 ACP
Beretta 87 in .22 LR
Taurus 22-PLY

I wasn't really practicing any technique,,,
I just wanted to shoot some guns,,,
And feel some recoil.

The weather was absolutely perfect!

I have only owned the Jetfire for a few days,,,
I fired 16 rounds through it the day I bought it,,,
And yesterday fired a box of 50 rounds with no malfunctions.

What a fun (but pricey) pistol this is to shoot,,,
At 21' (Tueller distance) I kept all rounds in a 5" circle.

Next I pulled out the Taurus 22-PLY,,,
That's the polymer version of their little mouse gun.

The last time I took it out I had all kinds of malfunctions,,,
I couldn't get through it's 9-round capacity,,,
Without a FTE or FTL.

Then I noticed I was shooting SV ammo,,,
The manual says it is designed for HV ammo,,,
So this time I took some Federal bulk HV and CCI Mini Mags.

50 rounds of CCI Mini Mags went perfectly,,,
With the federal bulk I had no FTE/FTL's,,,
But I did have some (2-3) FTF's.

The pistol is double action only,,,
So I just pulled the trigger again and they went bang.

I did notice one thing about the Taurus,,,
It has an exceptionally long trigger pull and reset.

I believe that on the FTF's I didn't let the trigger fully reset,,,
Could that cause a light hammer strike in this gun?

I wonder.

I ran 50 rounds of .380 through the Beretta 85,,,
No problems whatsoever.

I ran 50 rounds of Federal HV through the Beretta 87,,,
No problems whatsoever.

Then I brought out that pair of Kel Tec P17's,,,
I fired three 16-round mags of Mini Mags through each pistol,,,
Then followed those up with three 16-round mags of the CCI Mini Mags.

The only thing that was bad about the performance of the Kel Tec pistols,,,
Is that they are so dang much fun to shoot in dual wield fashion,,,
One runs through those 16 round mags in a hurry.

All the time I'm doing this,,,
My buddy is quietly plinking 3/4" groups at 50 yards.

He was shooting his 10/22 build,,,
Ruger bolt/receiver, Shaw barrel, Archangel stock.

It's relatively new to him but he's quickly dialing it in very nicely.

We were out there for about two hours total,,,
Again, not doing anything too serious,,,
Just plinking away and having fun.

Tuesday is supposed to be another good day,,,
I think I'll take my CZ-512 rifle out,,,
I re-leveled the scope on it,,,
It needs sighting in.

This time it will be just that one rifle slow shooting,,,
To get it sighted in at 50 yards and 100 yards.

This rifle is the one I want to use in 25/50/75/100 yard silhouette shooting,,,
A rifle for each shooting discipline is my way of doing things.

Anyways,,,
I had such a satisfying time,,,
That I'm already packed for tomorrow.

It took me a while to realize,,,
Not all range trips have to have a serious "purpose".

Some of the time there is a need for a specific task to be accomplished,,,
Like dialing in a scope or testing different ammo for function.

But it's just as important to just enjoy shooting that dialed in rifle,,,
As it was in getting it ready to shoot.

If plans work out for me,,,
Tomorrow's trip will be a serious one,,,
That CZ-512 is too nice a rifle to not have it dialed in.

I might take my CZ-75B Kadet as well,,,
Just to have a little bit of fun with.
