With the prices of AKs and ARs through the roof, I am thinking of at least buying an SKS. I wish I had bought one years ago when they were $100, but even the SKS is pricey now. What would you say is a realistic non-gouging price on an SKS with detachable mags and a composite stock with an AR style shoulder thingy that slides in and out?

I'd also say $300.

The irony is that if you still had a stock matching part version you could get more money for it, even though you sunk a lot into after market parts.

Good question. Though I would like to know more specifically by country. Russian, China, Yugo, etc? I would think Russian and Yugo would be worth more than Chinese.

Personally I think it's too much, I paid $300 for my norinco with a choate tools stock and 300 rounds. Since then I have swapped to a tapco stock and picked up a couple tapco mags so I'm in it around 400. I did see one identical to mine minus the mags and bayonet sell for 1000 at a gun show about a month ago and almost died laughing at the idiot

Also the mags make a big difference. If they are TAPCO you arguably have between $60 to $80 in mags. But the metal mags out there just aren't very good and don't bring a lot of value even in the crazy market.
