Tornado missed us by 1.5 miles. Prayers go out to all families involved in this tradgedy. We lived near the May 1999 tornado also.

My sons family lives in Moore and are OK. We know several families that lost their homes.

Please continue to send prayers to our community.

Just saw on the news they were at one of the checkpoints, and there were a bunch of ATF agents in the background. What's up with that?

I also saw what looked to me like a park ranger, so maybe they've just called in all LEO types for help. Still, seemed odd to me.

All hands on deck.

I went back into the carnage this morning to pick up a surviving horse to move to a safe place, and there were a bunch of Lighthorse Police cars. Obviously tribal police, but I don't know which tribe.

It's all hands on deck situation. All state agencies, police departments and federal agencies are sending in people.
They secured the perimeter per NIMS guide lines, need to control the scene.

FOG OF WAR principle really applies to the first 12-24 hours of a major disaster.
Once Unified Command is established, things run smoother, and accurate information able to be reported.
Can't really blame the first responders or the M.E.'s office, they were told to expecting 50+ bodies, and operated under that assumption.

I don't think the media knows about NIMS. FOX, CNN, MSNBC, etc. keep asking officials if there's a plan in place to organize S&R. They obviously run with whatever they happen to hear from whomever, and don't know to consult the PIO.

I live in the south side of the neighborhood just east of I-35 and the north side of the neighborhood is mostly destroyed. The south end is just covered in debris.

Man we are close. I live just east of you I think. I watched that sucker come for a good 20 minutes and when I finally ducked into the cellar I would have sworn it was closer than this line shows. According to this it missed me by just short of a mile. I really thought it was more like a 1/4 mile. I'll walk up that way tomorrow and find out. They won't let me drive my vehicle back to my house. Oh well, I guess you are good to go if you want to loot on foot, but no way in hell they are letting you do any drive-in looting. :nolike:
