Need to refinish my GSG 1911-22. Rattle can it? I am paint-challenged; I can't seem to even pray paint a flat board without getting runs and drips. What do ya'll say is the route to go for this budget (okay; cheap) refinish project?

Rattle can..short even strokes...steel wool lightly...then another color to "shadow" it.
When your done ..spray wax....It'll be B E A Utiful...Have Fun.... ;)

Okay. Except I have no idea what you mean by "shadowing" it and what kinda spray wax? Are you taking about spray Minwax or something? Please advise...and thanks for the input.

Paint the whole thing whatever color..."desert tan"...then get another color.."coyote brown"..and feather the edges...get that worn "personality" look.
Any kind of spray auto wax, you could use paste , but that would be more rubbing... ;)
I think it'll look cool

I bet it would but this is outside my artistic league...I would be better off letting somebody with more skill than me do something like this. I might as well take a brush to the thing and just slop it on.

No No No, light Even strokes, you can add more, just steel wool it lightly and add more to your likeing.
Then just dust the corners, until you get what you like.
You can always lightly steel wool it off a little.
Then when you get it the way you like spray wax will seal it....try it , you can do it.
And get much more satisfaction ,than somebody else doing it...8)

Degrease it good, take it completely apart, and scuff up the guns surface to give it something to adhere to. If it doesn't turn out right, one of use can help you Cerakote it!
