Homeowner kills suspect in north Tulsa home invasion

Feb 19, 2016

An armed intruder was reported in the 200 block of West Queen Street just after midnight Friday
A victim grabbed a gun, shooting the intruder, who ran down to the corner of Cheyenne and Queen before dying
Police say the intruder matches the description of a home invasion and shots fired call from Thursday morning

Tulsa Police are investigating the city’s fifth homicide of the year, the result of a home invasion.

Investigators told FOX23 they got a call from a woman at 12:16 about an armed intruder. She told officers that someone knocked on the door, asking to use the phone.

When she and a male homeowner answered the door, the suspect pushed his way inside and allegedly began picking up items to steal from them.

During his 15 minute raid, the male homeowner got a gun and shot the suspect. The suspect ran away from the house, collapsing at the corner of Cheyenne and Queen Street. A K-9 officer found him there, dead.

Tragic, just tragic. If they would have just left him alone, he would have just taken his (newly-acquired) possessions and been on his way. Now, another young life lost to gun violence because of the selfishness and reactionism of the homeowners. Tragic.

/sarcasm.

I'm not big on the news, does this sort of thing happen as regularly in OKC as it seems to in Tulsa?

I do not think it happens as much in OKC as Tulsa. Tulsa's crime rate seems to be much higher. I lived in the OKC area for 14 yrs and actually enjoyed the news. I moved here 3 yrs ago and never watch the news any more. All it is one murder story after the other.

Either OKC has less crime or Tulsa has nothing better to cover than murders. Looking forward to moving back someday. This news seems to bring everyone down around here.

I'm sure their families are heartbroken. I'll bet they're pointing at the homeowners, too. Wait 'till Al Sharpton shows up to help them file the civil suits.
