You are correct okie. The fiscal year ends June 30th. I gave all my money back months ago. Spending that kind of cash in a given time frame is hard work!
The gumbent works the same way.

Well we have some amazing new schools and I think we've become the biggest district in Oklahoma ....we have to do something about teacher salary in Oklahoma or we won't have any, and what we do have won't be worth a damn. This is big problem and unfortunately this is caused by poor leadership at the state capital level all the way around Oklahoma is terrible about spending money, it's such a big mess who can fix it?

There are other factors also. Once a district get to a certain number of students, let's say 20k, they get more federal money, but , they were maxed out on dollar per kid before the new funds kick in. They play catch up for a few years before they figure out how much fiscal year money they need to rat hole. It's a juggling game that is won by good CFO's.

I don't get it, doesn't funding come from property taxes? Doesn't county distribute money to school districts?
Most of the property tax goes to the votech/technology centers, not common ed.
You should see the percentages on your ad valorem tax bill.

That's why the votechs are always adequately funded.
Their primary revenue stream, property tax, is relatively constant and increases every year because property valuations increase every year.
Trust me, if you are going to work in a school you want it to be a votech.

Just to be clear, you're blaming Oklahoma's failed primary/secondary educational system on the teachers?

Some teachers are worthless and I have seen a bunch of them, with the inclusion of college professors. It's amazing some of the professors and their complete lack of professionalism that are put in the classroom, just because they have an advanced degree. It's more than pathetic.

It's not just Oklahoma with a poor education system. While I was working in Salt Lake City, there was a radio commercial saying they needed to fill over 400 open teacher positions and they have depleted their teacher pool. It's way beyond funding.

The thing about a paycheck is, nobody says they are overpaid. Ask a few people if they make enough money, almost all will tell you no.

depending on the college, many college professors are neither hired for their teaching nor rewarded for being good teachers. Their advanced degree does not put them in front of the room, either.

Why arent they cutting these funds when the schools need it. Im sorry but the votechs are neat and all but none of the certificates I got there earned me anything.... There were a few classes that actually were worth a darn for like mechanics and stuff but yeah not every thing they teach there translates very well to college credits or training that employers like.

They need to abolish the Education Department within the federal government and get them out of state schools. We certainly don't need the teaching of Islam or "Core Education" in our schools. The problem in our schools is multi fold, from the failure of parents to properly instruct their children all the way to the federal gov't forcing curriculum values on our schools.
