how much do you figure your taxes will go up? Also, income tax will not increase to fund the raise.Tax issue.
If my taxes go up due to teacher pay increase, am I allowed to increase my rates to compensate or just do with less?

Funding the raise how? I haven't seen exactly how.how much do you figure your taxes will go up? Also, income tax will not increase to fund the raise.
I'm just trying to figure out your post. I am also trying to figure out if you know the dollar amount the raise will cost the state. Lastly, I am trying to figure out if you are just making statements based on nothing.Funding the raise how? I haven't seen exactly how.
Production tax on gas and oil?

you can look on Lawton Public School's facebook to read the letter our Sup posted. As far as I know, legislature doesn' have a revenue proposal out there.....nor anything about a pay raise for teachers.
The walk out seems to be a done deal. TPS, OKCPS, Jenks, Mustang are all in with others commiting
lol, not trueThey are based on property taxes going up to fund the raise. The majority goes to school funding. Surely, you know this as this is where your salary comes from. The dollar amount it will cost the state will be passed on to property owners. It won't cost the state anything.
I think that is the point, they do not have a plan. But, your plan is not where it will come from.Where do you think the money will come from then? The state is already operating in a deficit and has to pay back money owed to the lottery fund. Will the governor pull it from somewhere we have no knowledge of? I'm really curious. Please, enlighten me.
Not to mention reporting early for meetings, staying late for meetings, lunch duty, or not having a plan period due more students nd less teachers in the school. If a teacher is a coach it is even less time and before you say there is pay for coaching it works out to what a measly 3 dollars an hour or so.-First of all it’s 187 Days.
-Second. It’s spread out over 10.5 months
-Third. If you knew a teacher you would understand that we spend a large portion of our weekends, and after school time Planning for our classes and lessons.
-fourth. If you knew a teacher you would also understand that we spend a large portion of own income buying supplies out our own pockets so we can educate our students. Districts don’t have the money, and won’t reimburse us.
-fifth. If you knew a teacher you also know that districts don’t have money to supply paper after a point so we have to go out and buy reams of it to make copies with.
Sixth- We are forced to give up planning hours to watch classes because districts can’t afford subs.
Last- I haven’t even mentioned the time away from Home sponsoring classes, dances, fund raisers, community projects that we give up.
It’s not an easy job. It’s a very rewarding job. But, it takes a lot out you.
Not trying to start anything. Just FYI.
I was being sarcastic, but that may be the reality soon."You are so right. I am thinking that all the teachers in Oklahoma should find a different job that pays their bills, and allows them to have a life that is appropriate to their liking. Any Oklahoma teacher that wants to teach will have to go out of Oklahoma to make a better salary and to teach."
And then there would be no one in the schools to teach. That' a genius idea.
Teachers aren't asking for a life altering sum of money. Yes they knew what they were getting into....but I don' think anyone would expect to go 10 yrs w/o a raise. Some on this forum are clearly out to lunch economically.
You are going to pay more, it will just be indirect. Welcome to the benefit of being a citizen.View attachment 115401
Wait, so if the state is providing 79 percent, where will it come from? It won't be federal funding, as the government isn't responsible for it. Where exactly will the money come from? I'm seriously curious. I want to be assured as a person with no kids in the school system, I won't have to pay more for this.
