No sir education is the single largest expense in Oklahoma , I would say more money isn't the answer to this problem . How about using the money the system is being provided which is ample mind you more efficiently ?
Ok so govt spending should be more efficient. Sure.
In what universe has that ever happened?

But that's not what they want to do with the funding lol. They just want to pay teachers and admin more. No matter how much they make, they will still come to class, get treated like crap from both students and admin and will still quit.
Teacher pay is only one aspect. OKCPS just passed a big infrastructure bond. So the people in districts are ponying up.
I love My admin so far and I do see a bit of unity in more teachers towards Doing the right thing than I would have expected.

We spend more per student than most countries yet have worse results. Something is obviously wrong or money is being spent the wrong way. Prob should fix that before throwing more money at it.
“Should” never equals will in the govt.
moron “adults” having kids is the problem. So until we have IQ based sterilization programs or restrict the freedom of individuals in this country (like they do in other SOCIALIST countries) to be stupid parents nothing will change.
**** just costs more when you have more **** to deal with.

Our public schools are a joke and most of the people working within the system are not serious people.

There is no standard where these institutions get a pass. They won’t even provide basic security for pupils or staff.

Public education should be abolished or radically reformed.

I have a feeling it would turn into waterworld in two months with us out there. I’d be the Dennis hopper guy
Keep in mind through all of this, you're not the "normal" teacher. You're older, male, non-career, non teaching degree teacher. You won't see things the same way as many of them do.

The number of students per teacher continues to increase.
The respect and compensation to the teachers continues to decrease.

The amount of training required to be a classroom teacher has decreased, and a lot of that training relates to classroom management and child psychology, not the subject they teach.

How do we change this situation without bringing in more trained teachers?
How do you bring in more teachers without making the profession more lucrative and competitive with other professions?

Please explain the systematic inefficiencies you refer to.

In your momma’s bedroom.
When I was a kid a million years ago adults would show up to volunteer and support their kids and teachers in public school. Probably helped them understand any issues going on.

I think society needs to do this more today. Maybe we’d all have a better grasp of the crap show going on.

I challenge everyone to contact their local school and offer to help any way they can.

The requirements to be a non-degree classroom teacher has decreased......the requirements to get a education degree has increased though. Folks who are non-degree teachers have been out in the real world, they've worked, they've seen society and how it works.

18yo-22yo college education majors are sitting in university classrooms aren't being prepared for reality imo, they graduate, they get there, and then they quit. I'd like to see some statistics on how many education majors had a terrible school experience vs great school experience. I'm betting very very few of the first, and more of the latter.
