I don’t think you’re an a-hole.

I think we will send whatever technical or other support the Japanese need to contain this nuclear mess and to aid in rescue and other immediate relief efforts.
I agree.

There's a big difference between aid and rebuilding. What they need is aid. Specialized equipment, trained rescue workers, etc.

They don't need a check.

Unlike you, I post facts, links or anything else that lends to an intelligent conversation. :loser:

LMAO. I rarely see you posting any links in your "I'm better than you" BS fest discussions.

You want links? Ok fine:

After Katrina, the Japanese government offered material and monetary assistance that surpassed $1 million and that included tents, blankets, power generators and portable water tanks. Japan also provided $200,000 to the American Red Cross to aid hurricane victims. In addition, Takashi Endo, a private businessman in Japan, donated $1 million from his personal funds to Katrina relief efforts.

And that is all just for Katrina. If you want to find more about other disasters you can find them yourself.

How much money are we going to send to Japan? With all the talk about recession and how much money we are barrowing from china and how bad the ecconomy is, why are all bleeding hearts calling for the government to go save and rebuild japan again
Doc

Yes, I have to agree with your self assessment.

A check won't fix their problem. It should not matter whom did what to whom when a catastrophic event like this happens. Volunteers will go and help where needed. Even if they did not help with Katrina. It is a hard thing to carry around such a hard heart all the time so give help to someone you normally wouldn't for a change. I promise it will make a better person out of anyone.

In the grand scheme of things a million dollars is a piss in the wind, we give Billions of dollars in aid to other countries every year.

Trust me, we will send and spend more than a couple million helping with this.

this forum never ceases to reach new lows...

You are always on this side of these arguments. I think the OP is right. They are a strong country and can bounce back just fine. On the other hand even our ready assistance cost us millions to billions a day.

It not low of us to care that more money we do not have is being spent on a country we don't owe. You can do the bleeding heart thing if you like, but if you have a dime to your name that you have not given to someone less fortunate you are a hypocrite....

America has always had a great capacity for compassion when people are in desperate need. It's part of what defines us as a nation. As far as I can tell that willingness to share has never been owned by one political party or another. It seems universal. Maybe you should live someplace else if you're not happy with that generosity.

I'm sorry, but you sir have some nerve to suggest that someone leave their home country for disagreeing with you.

Last time I checked the govt takes 200 bucks a week from me that I never see, I can assume this fellow dick shares the same pain. And because of that we are entitled to an opinion on how that hard erned money is used.

I am a firm believer that someone should fix their own damn problems before they go looking to fix others.
Now If you're opinion is the opposite, then I welcome private charities for that duty.

Wether or not the USA contributes is a decision we all get to have a voice in wether it is followed or not.

Before you go telling another citizen to leave for having a different opinion than you, I suggest you remember that this country is as much his and mine as it is your's!
