Caution this is a story about instant death.

Had another given to us on sunday and it was my turn to kill the animal.
I have not got to try my 168Amax on game yet.

This 700lb steer was on all 4's and looking at me from 20 feet and I stuck one right between the eyes.
I got pushed back from the recoil and missed what my friend said was a wave sent from the head to the tail ..like a ripple or shock wave all the way down the body of this tasty black animal.
I got to watch it hit the ground with a thud.
No shaking no eye movement nothing..I have never seen an animal die so quickly.

Tiny hole into the skull it did it's job,,It also went deep into the animal and must have cut the jugular as blood was pouring from the mouth.
2530fps or so ..I have heard these explode on impact ,,The tiny entrance hole tells a different story.
No I did not dig through to find the bullet..... sorry.

I did cook up a roast in the pressure cooker yesterday and it was excellent.
And all the hamburger is ground and packaged :)

I will be using this bullet and gun for the Holiday Antlerless season in hopes of trying it's performance again.

42.5gr varget in Lapua cases with 210M primers to light it all off. Excellent accuracy to 300 yards .555 MOA, will try further later.

Dang bud, save your high dollar ammo. We use a 22. But you got to hit them right behind one of the ears and angle it in. And it will drop em just like your cannon did.

Yes the other big muscles and back straps are going to cure out in a fridge for a couple weeks or longer.
The first one we got we left them for 1 week.. not real tender.
Then another got the 2 week stay.. much more tender..
Just pulled a deer out from a 3 week stay....fork tender..

The big muscles will be steak etc.
I know I can kill one with the .22 or a hammer.
But before I shoot a deer with this round I wanted to give it a test run you know :)

I never knew the cuts of meat or the differences in steaks or what they were called. I still don't
I grew up on bologna and liver loaf if I was lucky..

Wife knows the steaks I just know tender and tasty chunk of meat.
I was never good with names.. numbers I do know , I am always using numbers.

I lost one 23 cubic foot freezer last year.. lost a lot of veggies and trout , salmon. crappie , catfish. deer and hog.
That was awful.
I have one chest freezer now and you can't put a can of beans in it now it is so full.
But my fishing buddy has a couple and those are almost full.

swampratt, i've taken a number of deer with the a-max. it makes liquid out of the internals but i have had very little blood trail because there was no exit wound. the good news is that i have not had to look very hard as the deer is usually very close to where it was shot!
