I like the idea of the 10/22 modified into a .17HM2. I've been looking for an autoloading HM2 because I like not only the ballistics of that cartridge, but the cartidge price is second only to a 22lr. At least, the cartridges USED to be cheap before the ammo panic. I haven't even seen any ammo on the shelf in nearly 2 years.
I have a pair of .17HMR's in H&Rs and fell in love with both the cartidge and the guns when I went out and sited them in. There was a golf ball sitting on the range at 50 yards or so and I just kept popping that thing around, shot after shot.
If I can ever find another 10/22 for sale, I think I'm going to look at rebarreling/rechambering it to a Mach2. This gun and ammo scarcity won't last forever. I'll probably also order a set of Mach2 barrels for the H&R's in the near future.
