"Idiot mark" or "IM" is where someone scratches the frame when removing and installing the slide lock.

AHHHH I am an idiot LOL. I did a real light mark when I first got my 1911. Not a scratch really , just made a mark in the finish. Still was a wee bit miffed at me for doing it though.
I bet ALL of us had that mark on our 1st 1911. I sure did.
