Well here goes. I have a 94 Altima GXE . The other day I went out to start it and all I heard was a clicking under the dash each time I turned the key. I had someone push start it and drove to have the starter checked out. Well I got to where I was going and I shut off the car and then tried to restart it with the key ( it started ). Well drove it around and it restarted each time with no problem. Well I went out this morning to go to the store and tried to start it and same issue no start with clicking under the dash near fuse box. Any clues to what my issue might be?

Should have mentioned that when I turn on the headlights and try to start the lights don't dim. Will try and have it jumped when a neighbor wakes up.I know I just replaced the battery but maybe I got a bad battery.

Sounds like it could be the ignition. If the points in the dash are not lining up all the way you can have that happen. A battery is usually 'consistent' when bad, but an ignition can be very intermittent. Does the car ever 'shut off' and lose power when driving down the road, only to come back a second or two later?

My wife's car did the not start and 'shutting down' thing for months. We ruled out several items and finally replaced the ignition switch and problem solved.

Not enough power to relay will cause clicks so I'd start with taking battery to orileys or somewhere they will test it. Make sure you check battery cables make sure they arent shorting somewhere and clean clamps that go on battery terminal for sure.

Sounds like a bad battery to me. The reason I say this is because a battery is just a storage device. When you got the car started it was running on the alternator which it is supposed to do. It was able to keep the car running and charge the battery at the same time therefore allowing you to start the car again in a few minutes. If the battery is bad it just wont keep the charge overnight. Your local AutoZone can check the battery for you while it is in the car. It could also be that you have a draw on the system that drains the battery overnight. To check for this take off the negative battery cable and put a volt meter in line. Put the positive lead on the negative battery post and the negative lead on the cable. If you show a voltage reading then you have a draw. Start popping out fuses until you find the circuit that the draw is on and you can start checking for wiring problems from there. One caveat is that you must make sure that everything is off in the car. If you have anything plugged into a power port in the car, make sure it is unplugged. Good Luck.
