They think its the crossbows that caused thier success.. I think its the fact that the weather was cooler and prolly a lot more people hunting them this year compared to last..

I think the real story is that people had more time to prepare, and get to private ground where baiting is legal.
I'd be interested to see how many came from private vs public ground.

I would agree the quota was reached so quick because more people were hunting them. Over half (15/22) were taken with crossbows. This is a pretty good indication there were probably more archery hunters in the woods due to the crossbow becoming legal.
