We had a great youth weekend.
We had 5 kids in camp of which 3 were hunting and 2 sibling supporters. They all put in 10+ hours in the stand this weekend one shot and missed a doe and my son shot and killed a nice 8 point on Saturday eve. I had an absolute blast with my boys and they were great troopers putting in that amount of time in the stand. My niece was hunting with my dad(her pawpaw) and she and my dad didn't get a shot but really enjoyed the weekend.

Here are a few shots of the weekend
Coy my 6 yr old "supporting" big brother he slept for a couple hours this sit

Here is my son with his first deer I'm not sure who was shaking the most waiting for him to get the shot off, I ended up having to be his gun rest due to the location of the deer and their sudden arrival so I'm sure his gun was shaking worse just because of me.

My kids are too old so I took my cousin out this year. I was starting to wonder if he was just thinking I took him out to the woods to just get misquito bit. The past two years we haven't seen anything when he has been with me. He has killed one deer before (a doe) with his grandpa, but really wanted his first buck bad.

About 6PM we had a button buck walk in that he passed on (his decision not mine, I don't beleive in restricting young hunters who have not had a chance to hunt very often). Then right behind him came this 5pt. One shot from the 223 at 10 yards had the buck down within 20 yards. IT WAS AWESOME! I don't know who was more excited. Brought back alot of memories for me to of when my son got his first buck.

I will be using a different bullet selection next time though. The remington CoreLok did a lot of damage but came apart and did not exit.
