That should be a good hunt if it’s the refuge area. Some really nice deer in there, lots of elk too. There are food plots, creek and a few ponds in the refuge. Camping area in the public hunting area.

I have buried my pickup and oilfield equipment in the mud there before
2 years ago I drew this hunt. There are lots of deer and pigs. Shot a pig but couldn't find it. Saw lots of deer, but nothing in bow range. I never saw anyone else during the week.

Not to pour salt in your wound, but the first year a started putting in for controlled hunts, I drew a bull tag at Pushmataha. This was 21 years ago. Got a nice 9x7.
I only hunted west of 75. Lots of ground to cover. Definitely scout early. Luckily I saved my ONYX maps from 2 years ago. Some of the areas are nasty thick. Tons of sign
