Did you shoot the mojo in the excitement
Never fired a shot this morning.
Going to get after it this weekend with the cold front coming in. Stale birds at our place were starting to catch on to us lol.
I set my a frame yesterday where I thought there’d be no ice. I was wrong. Had a pre dawn flight of a dozen mallards get down 200 yards away. Too much ice between us. Such is life. Not much action in Okfuskee county. Anyone seeing any birds?
Another visit to widgeon town this morning. Pond was half ice, half open water. Had to be real careful woth shots, but got it done. Finally saw a few mallards on the water when I peeked at the pond on my way out after playing with the cameras. Not any new birds really to speak of otherwise.
Drove over 150 miles yesterday about 2pm through Alfalfa, Grant, Kay, Osage and Washington counties to Bartlesville along highway 64/60 and did not see a single duck or goose in the air, on the water or land.
You think this big front will push some more birds down?
Somewhere I'm sure they will. I think my area had a major shift in migration, they just don't come here anymore for whatever reasons. Got several ponds in several counties and it's been like this for 3 or 4 years now, with each year getting worse. I've been one time this year on opening morning just so I could take the dog. We usually would hunt 30-40 days a season prior on both water and cut grain, and rarely not have a 3-4 man limit, several hundred birds a season.
