I can't comment towards the SBR because I don't know. I built mine with an 18" barrel. I was looking for accuracy and a little extra velocity. I got both, very happy with it.
I found a GORGEOUS 16' barrel, I know 300blk can only push a few hundred yards but I'd still like the ability to hit a hog at 250.

I can reliably hit an 18x24 steel plate with an Eotech and a 10.2 barrel 300 blackout from 300 yards suppressed shooting 220 grain SMK's subsonic. With something that is going supersonic, its probably even easier. I have to agree that the 300 really shines in SBR form. I would not own one with a 16" barrel. There's just nothing it can do that I feel my 5.56's cannot.

So it sounds like it's a lot of reloading working a tax stamps for a 5.56. I don't mind going Frankenstein with rounds but I don't see it if it's not much better than 5.56

That sums up one man's opinion. It's really cool to shoot subsonics with the can, but honestly that's about all I do with it. It would be a good brush gun for deer or hogs, but like I said, I don't see an advantage in going with the 300BO if you are using a 16" barrel, especially if you reload with something like the 70grn Barnes.

I'm with ASP. If you're going to do 300 blk, sbr is where it shines. I wanted a hard hitting round that would cycle using subs, suppressed. The 300 blk does this very well. I just finished this one last week, and have only function tested it. Can't wait to see what she can do. 8" barrel, 12" rail and suppressed. Total length with the barrel and suppressor comes out to 16.5". It handles great and is right under 1 lb heavier then my 12.5" 223 upper without a suppressor.

The down side is I can't (legally) build or test it without the stamp.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to have a suppressed 300blk and move the can to my .308 but that's 2 stamps and couldn't (legally) build the upper.

Build a lower as a pistol and use it as a pistol and when the stamp comes in, replace the pistol buffer tube with a rifle tube and stock.
