.308 bolt gun

I am starting my search for a .308 bolt gun and thought i would pick the brains of you fine folks. I would prefer left handed and prefer the barrel already be threaded. Those aren't musts because most lefties are ambidextrous to some extent and a barrel can be threaded later. it will eventually be suppressed. as I am a noob to the bolt guns I would like to keep cost to around a thousand. what say the all wise OSA Brethren ?

There is a nice rifle in the classifieds right now, but it is twice your price.

You may look into Savage for a rifle, if they don't have what you want you can always order a custom rifle from them.

does your price include optic?
id say remington 700 with Vortex glass....but i have bias

SIG SSG 3000. It's about 1300 or so. GOOGLE it and see what you think. It's a lot of rifle for the money.

What sort of shooting are you planning to do? Paper/Steel/Target/Tactical/Hunting/Long-Range Hunting? There is so much more to a rifle than just a caliber, if you know what I mean.

Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle has a threaded barrel and they have left-handed options.

Mainly just target shooting at paper. My price doesn't include optic.

I would start with Savage 12FLV (left handed 223) and get 308 barrel of your choice and bolt head.
You'll have excellent 223 and 308, and within your budget.

That or you can get a 308 left handed Tikka.

Rem 700 is the go to choice for most .. an excellent option worth looking into is CZ550 with heavy barrel, comes with nice furniture and a set trigger. so you will not be spending $$$ for a custom trigger .. retail is $865
