I’m getting geared up to start loading 410 & 20ga in lead buckshot varieties and am wanting suggestions on what loads any of you have had the best experience with. I’ll be loading on a couple of mec loaders, and currently have a limited amount of 00 lead shot, H110 powder, a batch of new primed cheddite 410 hulls, a few hundred AA once fired 20ga hulls, 1k W209 primers, a couple shotshell loading books, and several different 20ga & 410 wads, but with all that said I’d like input on what works in the real world. I’m not using it for anything other than target training using bolt & lever 410, and pump & semi-auto 20ga shotguns.
Thank you for your input.

I’ve never loaded buckshot in anything but 12 ga, but I’ve been looking for 20 ga buckshot loads too. Everything I’ve found is for cheddite hulls. I’ve got a few thousand AA hulls that seem to have fallen out of favor with places like Ballistic Products. I’ve tried a few cheddite 410 hulls, and in my opinion, they’re “softer” and inferior to Remington and Winchesters.
I don’t know how much you’ve loaded with a 410 MEC loader, but it’s been exponentially harder for me than 12 or 20 ga due to the small drop tube.

Thanks for the info.
If you want just a few 20ga buckshot academy on nw expressway in okc has had some monarch for $14 a box. I haven’t seen any anywhere else local to central Ok.
I haven’t loaded any rounds yet, but have read complaints around the internet about the drop tubes clogging/shot bridging. One suggestion I read said they were using carbon dry lube on the shot. I think.
Will probably polish the inside of the tubes, or figure out a dosing system, or just spoon it in. I had also read complaints about cheddite being softer, but was the only thing available when I was gearing up, at least until I make it to a range that allows birdshot so i can empty some shells.
Hopefully other members will have suggestions for us.

I actually have a few hundred rounds of factory 20 ga buckshot I bought by mistake at some point, so I really don’t “need” to reload it but would like to have a recipe should the need arise.
I tried to make the 410 MEC work for me, but after spilling powder and shot all over my bench a few times, I only use my press for depriming, priming, pre crimp, and crimp. I scoop and weigh out my shot and powder. It’s slower but a lot less mess.
I’m in TX, but if I was going to be up that way any time soon, I’d bring you some 20 ga AA hulls. I have a couple 45 gallon garbage bags full.

Yowzers! That’s a lot of hulls!
I have a few hundred already that I bought from a local guy so am good for awhile, but he only loads for skeet comp so didn’t have input on buckshot.
I may hit you up next trip I make down there though it may not be until summer. Funny enough, I just came back from a trip to Lubbock last weekend.

I live in east TX, and it’s as far from my house to Lubbock as it is to my place in NW Oklahoma.
I’ll probably be coming back up that way either the end of January or early February to refill feeders, and I’ll try to remember to give you a heads up to see if you want any hulls.
