I’ve been using it for around 45 years now.
That appears to be a high-quality pistol case that should be fairly airtight. If that's the case, all you have to do is keep a big desiccant pack in there and that should keep moisture levels too low for rust to form. A coat of your favorite oil should give you complete protection. In the tests that I've seen, Fluid Film and WD-40 specialist Corrosion Protection give great results, but I'll bet just about anything would work.
