I am going to be the odd man out here and recomend the M1A...UNLESS you are going to scope it! There is NO good way to scope an M1A unles you are willing to weld!! If you want to run an optic, DPMS is the way to go! KurtM

How did you come to the conclusion that there's NO good way to scope an M1A without welding?

Not a well made gun. Look at how the stock fits up to the receiver. (and that's how it came from the factory)
Also, they're bulky and not dependable. I had one and was glad to see it go.

m1, slr (fal), then the vepr in that order. served with a fal in the late 80s, as a feild weapon....undisputed champ. i now own an m1 and a fal, love them both but love my socom better

I`ve got a cetme its fun,buddy used to have a saiga it was just a fun,ya really can`t go wrong with any of the choices,or a barreled m1a reciver,pic up a surplus stock cheap and the shop around for a trigger group.
