Have you considered having a local vo tech welding class build you one? That used to be pretty common. Instead of a true flat bed you do low sides and 2x plank floor.

Good plan, non profit so it's only material cost

Rat number 3 has been caught. My brother sent me a FB link with the perfect bed and the price was more than right. I asked the guy if it was available and he said it was. Message him about when I could pick it up and he says he’s out of town until Friday of last week. Never heard back so the search is ongoing
