The guys running them on FJR1300s say they really last a long time; but that cornering ability is sacrificed some.

Unless they don't do the twisties, those guys are nuts. I'm with Olyeller, bike tires have a round profile for a reason. A big honkin cruiser maybe it ain't so bad. But a sport bike in a corner? At speed? I don't think so....

I think you would be surprised at how well a bike will corner with a car tire (even the FJR). However, it's not ideal for corning. Most bikes also require a little more steering input to change direction using a car tire. And the car tire seems to "follow lines" more than bike tire does. There is a reason bike tires wear out faster---they are soft, lending themselves to better grip. If you are slabbing it on interstates from coast to coast, the car tire works great.

If I only have 2 small contact patches, and I may end up like the guy below, I want all the "stick" I can get!

You're probably OK if you do a lot of straight riding. I wouldn't trust it in hard cornering.

Let's put it this way. If the best route for a motorcycle tire was closer to a car tire. Then the $25mill MotoGP would be running them. IMO if I am going to drag a knee, it won't be on a tire that is meant to grip laterally. Just MO..

That would be somewhat reliant if his was a crotch rocket, i dont see him whipping though clovers at 110 on a nomad

Based on 15 years of selling motorcycles and 40 years of riding,you can put a car tire on a cruiser or touring bike but DON'T DO NOT put one on a sport bike.Carcass design,side wall stiffness,tire profile are all wrong for extreme lean angles generated on a sport bike.You WILL crash if you do this. Steve
