Hey Isaiahsdad, I have a friend that rides a 1800 VTX and he swears by the car tire on his bike. He rides very aggressively and has had no probs. Have you looked into a front tire replacement? I ride an UltraClassic and would love to get more miles out of my tires.

Hey Wall, whats up? Would be happy to bake you a loaf. It tastes a lot like Hawaiiiian sweet bread (How DO you spell Hawaiiiian?)

I just put a Dunlop Elite 3 motorcycle tire on the front of mine and it not only looks sexy as all get out but it corners a lot better than the stone I had on there. It too was cupped real bad. Not sure how many miles it had on it because it was on there when I got the bike. I did some research as to what front tire works well with a darkside tire and the Elite 3 kept popping up. I have a friend who works at Oklahoma Honda who gave me a great deal on the tire and while I was there I noticed that the Elite 3 comes with most of the Honda's including the new Fury.

By the way, the new Honda Fury is a real nice looking bike and I think Honda did a good job at there first real attempt at a chopper. Don't care much for the plastic fenders, and all the plastic on the engine, but for the guy with not much cash, and wants a good looking chopper, the Fury should fit the bill. ArGyLe64 I believe actually test rode one at Shawnee Honda and if I remember correctly he liked the ride. I would like to give one a try myself, but then again, I like to ride every bike I can get my hands on.

I am amazed at how many motorcycle tire experts there are on here. I should have come here before I spent a month doing research on my own. Man, I really wasted my time.
I've spent 2 years researching car tires on motorcycles. I worked over 10 years in the tire business, from installation to sales, to manufacturing, to design, testing, and evaluation for a worldwide tire business. But it seems that you may be the only person on OSA who has enough experience to "discuss" tires...

funny thing is that in all my research, I could not find one person who put a car tire on there bike, that went back to a mc tire, not one.
There are a few people on FJRs that have went back to MTs. But I will agree that most people that try a car tire like them. But these people are usually experienced, and they knew what they were doing when they went to a CT.

my humble opinion, if you have not tried it, then you don't know what you are talking about. I don't care how many miles you have on a bike, or how many years experience, until you have tried it, don't knock it...
So nobody else here is entitled to an opinion...whatever.
I haven't tried meth; but I have enough experience with it to knock it.

And it is always the same guys who just think they know everything about everything. I am going to start a thread about baking bread just to see how many people know it all.
You need to remember that this is a discussion forum. Nobody stated that you were wrong; just that they might not agree with you. Why would you take a personal opinion about tires, personally? Can we not argue the advantages/disadvantages without taking it personally?

So you don't like Portuguese bread I take it. Sorry, forgot you are the tire expert. What kind of bike do you have YG?? And what exactly where you researching car tires on motorcycles for?? And I know this is a discussion board, and it seams that when I rebut what someone else says, I am not allowed to do that. You seem to have a problem with me and actually I could care less, but if you are going to chastise me for my comments, you should quit your job and do it full time, I am not the only one on here with an oppinion that may be contrary to yours. The big difference is you have the power to can what people say without batting an eye. In my oppinion, if you are going to argue the advantage or disatvantage of something, at least have enough to back up your side as you apparently do. Most people argue just for the sake of arguing. My statement stands, if you haven't tried it, then you don't know what you are talking about. The statement about meth is rediculous, I haven't tried breathing in outer space either, does that fit your argument. Give me a break. For your information, I take nothing personally, it aint worth it.

Now, back on topic. I thought I would share another reason I switched to a car tire, and this seems to ba a common problem with stones on my model bike. It is called cupping. Most of the time it is due to poor tire pressure, but that was not the case on my bike. The stone that was on it 2 years ago did the same thing, and I thought it was due to tire pressure, so when I put a new stone on 2 years ago, I made sure that I followed the maintenance schedule set out by the tire manufacturer. I checked the pressure at least once a week, or every other fill up, whichever came first, but still had this problem. I posted pics on the motorcycle forum I frequent and sure enough, it seems a lot of guys have had the same problem, but switching to a car tire has fixed that one problem. I don't think it causes any serious performance issue, but it sure does make a lot of noise when cornering. Here is what it looks like if you are interested. Oh, and sorry this turned out to be a pissing contest. Guess I have to watch what I say a bit more. I was under the impression this was a free country.

I had the same problem with my front tire as well but not quite so bad. I hope that the tires I have now will do better.

OK,I was just going to let this slide but I can't now.ID you almost had a little credibility until you mentioned the 187 mph V-Max.HAHAHAHAHA,I 've owned 2 of them, sold dozens, done everything you could up to and including 1500cc bigbore w/nitrous.They wouldn't run 187 with a rocket strapped to the back.A strong one would see an honest 160 on a good day(if you could hold on in the windblast).18" front wheel as well as a frame adapted from a Venture touring bike and you've got one poor handling pig over 100 or when the first corner comes. As far as the tires go,wow you spent a whole month reading about car tires on the internet? Man I guess all those seminars put on by Pirelli and Dunlop that I've been to can't compete with that.Yukonglocker has a FJR 1300 and I ride a VN 2000.I have seen several bikes like mine and ridden 2 with car tires(225's IIRC) and they handled OK.However anyone who would put one an a serious sportbike or sport touring bike is very foolish. You can have your opinion but don't take the high and mighty attitude with others. Steve

BTW,ID this was typed while you were typing your response and I agree stick on topic. Also,I wasn't knocking whitewalls just relaying experience.
