Just buy ALOT of bolts... dont settle with the 6 they usually come with, they get trashed pretty easy, unless you buy a good target, and DONT miss!!

If you buy a crossbow target, the yellow jacket models that are layered at Wally World work fine. Just remember to always shoot broadheads. If you use the target point, it will go in past the fletchings, and screw them up. The broadhead will provide enough resistance to keep over penetration down.
Bowtech and Excaliber are the leaders in the market right now. Some will exceed your budget, some won't. Horton makes good ones too.
I agree the crank handle is very usefull in more ways than one. On my Xbow, I can decock it with the crank instead of having to shoot it into the ground.

I'm also in the buying mode, more for my son & I, he gets time to practice more with a compound . Me I have very little free time so I am hoping a cross bow will up the accuracy for me & lack of practice. Interested in this thread

Do you have AR's? They make a crossbow that attaches to an AR lower that is pretty sick.

just a update, I bought her a horton scout 125 realtree camo with a red dot, also ordered the ez crank 2 she can cock it by herself, so if you have a wife or a young one wanting to get a crossbow this is a good starting point, thanks for the advise OSA
