A good cleaning is the first place to start.
when the gun was put in storage by whatever country it comes from,
they dip the whole gun -stock and all in a vat of boiling cosmoline.
This insures it will go into all cracks and crevices.
When Century or whoever builds the gun out of the parts kit,
they very rarely do a detail strip and clean of the gun.
They just wipe the major parts down and call it good enough.
The first thing to concentrate on is the firing pin area which is probably still full of cosmoline.
which slows the firing pin thus causing a misfire.
Next the extractor spring hole is probably full
Causing the extractor to not move back and forth freely,
causing rounds to get left in the chamber.
As others have stated brake or carb cleaner will work good for this.
I haven't bought any surplus guns in years but, century and others always included a paper with the gun telling it was surplus and packed with cosmoline.
And to "take it to a qualified gunsmith and have it thoroughly cleaned before firing cause they're to lazy!"
ROFLMAO!
