Well, perhaps he has decided that the "Arab Spring" is not working too well and that perhaps he "backed" the wrong sides in those events. But, it is also possible that he doesn't want to deploy any more American military "assets." After all, he is supposed to be "ending" the decade long wars.

Let's not forget that without the French, we would not have won our independence when we did. I can't blame them, following Thomas Jeffersons own quote "Trade with all countries, align with non."
