I got a lime green fridge from my parents as a wedding gift. It went to the garage as a beer box after the new wife came into the picture.
When the fashion conscience wife saw white was out and stainless was in, we went stainless.
So, the lime green had to make room for the white.
7 lbs of Tannerite didn't make it go away. It created three hours of picking up insulation and scrap metal from a friend's pasture in 103-degree temperature.
Proper disposal of appliances is my mantra now.
Sounds like you just needed a little more tannerite.

Minus the explosion 💥, the mean green would (likely) still be on the scene.
Absent that; the white one'd prob'ly the right one..
....
But don't expect the stainless to be painless.
Old fridges don't get old by accident. They get old, cuz they stay cold.
