I have a sincere question regarding America’s future that I hope to receive plausible responses on. Please no “we’ll start a civil war” or “we’ll kill’em all’ macho bravado BS, just sincere plausible hypothetical outcome’s that you have been pondering.

I am a Christian white man in my early 40’s that’s married with two children, 5 and 3. I served in the Marines and was honorably discharged before 9/11. I used my GI bill to cover about half of flight school/college and worked in the Gulf of Mexico oil fields to earn the money to finish the other half. I have worked for flight schools, airlines, and charter companies and this has allowed me to see a large portion of this side of the hemisphere.

I lay awake at night now wondering what the future holds for America and what kind of a country my children will grow up in and inherit. As I hear all sides scream and holler about how bad America is I think back to our founding. I know the United States is an exceptional country. Part of that is due to our founding as a staunch individualistic constitutional republic, and our deep moral belief/ grounding in Christian tenants. As we now stray further and further away from our founding beliefs and tenants, I see possible ruin approaching.

I hypothesize one of the following happening to America:

1: An event of such magnitude happens that our society performs a 180 and returns to our founding values.

2: A class divide continues where there is a small percentage of the wealthy ruling class that controls government and industry. There is no middle class, just poor and rich. Authoritative despotism rules.

3: We vote our way into socialism, that ultimately will devolve into communism.

4: We have some form of secession or civil war in which the country degrades into war and then ultimately forms individual countries (think the Balkanization).

All 4 of those scenarios scare me fiercely, especially my children’s future here. So, what are your thoughts? Tell me what I am missing? Where do you see us going from here?

Thank you for your replies, I look forward to reading them.

It's all very disturbing and "scary". I carry every day and always have a weapon within reach 24/7. Every day I think more and more about what will happen when I have to use a weapon to defend my business and/or my employees or family. When I see the business' destroyed by thugs taking advantage of the unrest I want to scream. When I see leaders in cities cowering before these thugs I shudder. I don't look for trouble but I fear it is coming and action of some sort will have to be taken.

We have learned we can't depend on our politicians to uphold the law and the police are ineffectual due to the leftists within our political system. So, we have two choices. (1) Trust in the Lord above all and (2) prepare for hard times. the Bible says persecution will come and the radicals have already said to burn churches and tear down statues of Jesus. Lay in a supply of food, water, ammunition and prepare for BLM and ANTIFA to come knocking on your door. They have said they are coming to the residential areas next so be prepared, the police cannot protect you nor can they be everywhere at once. Only protect yourself within the law.
Now, this is what I want. I want the authorities to clamp down on these worthless groups and nail them hard. Not having enough prison room is not an option, bunk them high and cram them in, they want a several block area to control give it to them only mount an armed guard surrounding the area. They have to be stopped or we will lose our country. They want communism/socialism but they won't like it what it is here because the government will control everything, we will no longer have choice on what we watch on TV, what we read, even what we worship. Everyone will work-no exceptions and they certainly won't like that. If they don't; work they don't eat.

THIS! ^^^
When I see the governors and mayors of the cities cowing and bowing down, when I see the district attorneys prosecuting police and dropping charges on protesters I'm incensed to no end. It is their fault all this crap is happening. It is the education system and the SCOTUS that got us to where we are today. It is the apathy of the conservative voters that let it happen and the media just fans the flames perpetrating the lies fiddling and watching Rome burn.

We have several sources of truth that are blowing the whistle loudly but they are blown off as liars and crackpots. Rush Limbaugh, in my opinion, is the one with the most common sense. Sean Hannity is another, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Laura Ingrahm, Rick Roberts, Herman Cain, Michael MedVed, Michael Savage, and there are more.

Do your best to educate your children according to the truth and history of this nation. Not the revisionists version as taught in schools.

Do get back with God and his teachings. Do not take the mark.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

4 is the best scenario, and worst scenario. A country divided up will end up being taken by a larger force. But I'm somewhat for balkanization anyway; the different factions need an amicable divorce, otherwise it is going to get real, real ugly. There's a reason the Founding Fathers set things up the way they did - and we have completely abandoned all they put in place, and then wonder what went wrong. Too many dissimilar people from incompatible places for this "experiment" to last much longer. Too many politicians above the law for this "experiment" to last much longer. Too many citizens brainwashed with Communist and Socialist ideology for this "experiment" to last much longer, and so on. This place is NOTHING like the architects of this country laid out. Letting people peacefully separate is about the best we can hope for - but our government isn't going to let that happen.

I hate saying this, but we no longer live in a Constitutional Republic. We live in an Oligarchy, with a Kakistocracy government system. What will happen is a slow, steady decline in the quality of life, so long as the food, water and energy continue to flow. America will hobble along in "limp mode". People will become more dour, humorless and dissatisfied, but they'll cling bitterly to what's left rather than take the risks necessary to effect real change. Eventually we'll fall into a downward spiral that ends with the dissolution of our society.

If any or all of those critical supply systems are disrupted or destroyed, then society will fail abruptly and we'll move into a "dark ages" scenario. Tribalism and feudalism will become the norm. Some localized enclaves will succeed and possibly even achieve happiness in a simplified way of life, but their future will always be uncertain.

One more effect would be a diaspora event. People who find the status quo intolerable will seek out more favorable conditions, but their road will still be difficult.

I see nothing in history to dispute the eventual end of the United States as an empire. All empires rise, sunset and eventually fall. The only cure that's eluded us is the one for our own human nature.
