Until the whiners toughen up I'm not sure how this plays out . . .

First of all, the sky is not falling. This country has not been on the brink of civil war since the spring of 1861. Coincidently, that conflict was over the plight of black people in America. Black people are much better off in America now than they were in 1861, particularly in the South. Even the BLM has to acknowledge that fact.

The Sixties were easily more turbulent than the current decade. Cities burned and looting was often out of control, colleges were in turmoil, an unpopular war in Viet Nam exacerbated racial tensions, Martin Luther King and Malcolm X were assassinated, the Democratic Convention in Chicago in 1968 turned into a riot, there were Klan-involved lynchings and killings throughout the South, the Civil Rights and Black Power movements gained momentum--in short, the Sixties were far more turbulent than what we're seeing now. Somehow we survived.

The last great economic collapse in this country was in 1929. Sure, there have been recessions since than, and the CO-VID 19 pandemic has hurt the economy. But the economy is rebounding, and the outlook for the near future looks quite good considering all the gloom that accompanied the pandemic.

Socialism, Anarchy, and Communism all have a hold on the younger generation, which lacks the historical perspective necessary to see through the hucksters and the small-minded hobgoblins they peddle. In time, though, when they have car payments and mortgages and kids, they'll forget about the silliness that so enraptures them today. The future is not as gloomy as some appear to think.

Again, i am left to wonder how many before us have made similar statements. Going from grassroots to national level takes organization, and we've seen it happen again and again. I wonder how many looked at those efforts and thought similar things to your statement.

I am not trying to be dismissive of people's feelings. But we've had many threads here over the years that predicted that the sky would fall. I'm sure it will eventually, but it always seems to be 'the worst it's ever been' and yet America adapts. Maybe not in the way that all would want it to, but it has does none the less.

We are in agreement here for most of my comments anyway.
Americans have short memories of racial strife in the past and the effects it had going into the future from those events.
The watts riots, Detroit Riots all back and so on in the 70’s had people thinking this country was going down the rabbit hole and would never recover. The US did recover and there were some social improvements made.
There was zero social media back then, so what was the common denominator between then and now?
It was the media and the democratic ran cities. To this day, all of the major riots have happened in cities ran by democrats with minorities as mayor, Chief Of Police and a diverse police department.
The Murder Capitol of the US that had 104 shootings over the last weekend in Chicago is totally ran by minorities. Where is BLM when the chant is BLM and if you disagree, your beat down verbally and with weapons if available.
The media drove it then and drives it now along with social media.
BTW the media drove the “noose” thing in Bubba Wallace’s NASCAR Garage thing into a panic that drove pussy NASCAR to ban the stars and bars and put on this big shat show of support by pushing his car down the track.
Photos prove it was just a rope with a loop in it. Not a noose and photo evidence shows it had been there since last fall with no one screaming “it’s a noose!!!”
The Jussie Smollet gag keeps coming to mind and Wallace should remove himself from NASCAR in shame. What a frigging shat show for BLM and political correctness.

For the OP, I’m voting for Option #1. I’m a glass mostly full person.

One point of clarification, though, NASCAR moved to ban the flag before the noose 'incident'. It announced the move on June 10, the noose (according to the timeline Petty motorsport published) was located on June 21.

I have a sincere question regarding America’s future that I hope to receive plausible responses on. Please no “we’ll start a civil war” or “we’ll kill’em all’ macho bravado BS, just sincere plausible hypothetical outcome’s that you have been pondering.

I am a Christian white man in my early 40’s that’s married with two children, 5 and 3. I served in the Marines and was honorably discharged before 9/11. I used my GI bill to cover about half of flight school/college and worked in the Gulf of Mexico oil fields to earn the money to finish the other half. I have worked for flight schools, airlines, and charter companies and this has allowed me to see a large portion of this side of the hemisphere.

I lay awake at night now wondering what the future holds for America and what kind of a country my children will grow up in and inherit. As I hear all sides scream and holler about how bad America is I think back to our founding. I know the United States is an exceptional country. Part of that is due to our founding as a staunch individualistic constitutional republic, and our deep moral belief/ grounding in Christian tenants. As we now stray further and further away from our founding beliefs and tenants, I see possible ruin approaching.

I hypothesize one of the following happening to America:

1: An event of such magnitude happens that our society performs a 180 and returns to our founding values.

2: A class divide continues where there is a small percentage of the wealthy ruling class that controls government and industry. There is no middle class, just poor and rich. Authoritative despotism rules.

3: We vote our way into socialism, that ultimately will devolve into communism.

4: We have some form of secession or civil war in which the country degrades into war and then ultimately forms individual countries (think the Balkanization).

All 4 of those scenarios scare me fiercely, especially my children’s future here. So, what are your thoughts? Tell me what I am missing? Where do you see us going from here?

Thank you for your replies, I look forward to reading them.

Your not alone. I’m a Christian too and married with an almost 15 year old
Son. I’m almost 40. I think 2 and 3 will happen. Lord knows I don’t want a new civil war but at the same time as I have said before, it is the only I see that will get this country back on track. Voting will NOT work. The government is too corrupt and powerful and the courts are also too corrupt. The constitution is meaningless to our government. Even the republicans don’t care about it. They just play a good game of making folks think they do. All these young voters coming up about to vote for the first time are mostly for socialism. And the ones my sons age and a little older are the same way. I am pulling him out of school and homeschooling him for next year through high school. He goes to a little country school that I went to back in the day and even it has changed for the worse. They push leftist ideologies too. I have to constantly beat( not physically) into his head that they are trying to indoctrinate him.

Just look at how bad this country has gotten socially. I never would have thought the country would be the way it is. It is doing exactly what the Bible says. What was once considered wrong will be considered right and what was once considered right is now wrong. We are seeing the results of that. Our country is divided and the media has so much power and influence that things cannot change. Between the media, Hollywood, sports, tv, internet, video games, schools, colleges, these kids have no chance. I am a strong conservative patriot and i have to constantly preach to my son to not buy in to the lefts lies.

We are up against a very powerful and organized enemy. And we do nothing to push back. No one is willing to risk anything. I’m sure someone will reply to this comment and say “what are you gonna do?” They always do. One person can’t do squat. We have to all come together. We can’t win this war divided. And sadly many in this country think nothing will ever happen. That the USA will always be the way it is. That is a ridiculous way to think. We are witnessing the destruction of this country right before our very eyes.

If we don’t act soon there won’t be any of this country left. I for one don’t want to live in a world like that. And I sure as heck don’t want my son too. I would rather die to secure a better future for my son than to be a coward and live.
