They've spent enough on downtown, they've made it nice and have had some "success" as they define it. Just how much stuff do they want to build down there anyway? Do they have to look for parking? I think not, because it's so bad, I don't even go down there anymore.

This is the most important part. Why should the Indians pay for something they didn't start?? I'm not sure anybody even asked them if they wanted a Cultural Center in downtown OKC, did they??
And Shadowrider's right ... Mayor Mick could have least taken into account that folks coming into downtown would need a place to park. What did he think we were gonna do, walk??
Oughta put it up to a state-wide vote to see if the taxpayers want to foot the bill, or maybe the tribes or a private investor wants to step up?
If not, maybe it's time to stop throwing good money after bad. Just because someone started it doesn't mean millions more need to be spent to finish it. I highly doubt it would ever pay for itself in tax revenue.

They should put a lift on it and a snow making machine and be done.
I have very little patience for politicians and so-called civic leaders who make grandiose propositions which will supposedly cost X dollars when they invariably know the final cost will be exceedingly greater than they promised. This impatience carries over to the planners, architects and constructionists who follow the same pattern.
And, the response of "unforeseen costs" just doesn't set with me.
If I were called on to vote on this boondoggle, I would be hard pressed to voice an "aye".
By the way, I have no quibble with the project. I suspect it might very well perform as advertised. I'm just tired of being taken for a ride.

So let me get this straight: after the state tried to screw the tribes over water rights, now they're asking them to "please, pretty please" complete the cultural center that the STATE started and can't finish for lack of funds? Wow. Just wow.
