Death comes with loss of O2 to the brain. He had lots of time, shot center mass to stay in the fight.

How many of us that deer hunt, have blown the heart/lungs of a deer into mush with a center fire rifle and watched it run off.

Handguns of any caliber are notoriously poor fight stoppers. Case in point....the Trooper that shot the kid going for his gun last month was shot in the chest with a .45 ACP. Well hes living to face charges. Placement and a good rifle is much better in a gunfight.

Proves that there is no such thing as a "routine traffic stop". From another article, the shooter is identified as John Van Allen, a "former Army Reservist".

The family of John Van Allen states they are shocked by his actions. He was an engineer in the U.S. Army. They claim he was not known for his violent attitude or behavior, so they do not understand what caused him to shoot at a trooper. However, Allen does have a police record that includes arrests for fighting. Stress may have played a part in his actions since he had recently moved to Portland after his marriage fell apart. He actually has five children but only three of them were in the car. Some family members have suggested he may have been lying about his success in Portland and was actually planning to return home with his children.

While some of the behavior indicated can be signs of PTSD, they can also be signs of just being an *******. So lets not lump this into the "crazy service member with PTSD" category just yet.

Hope the little ones in the car slept through it/and or have no idea what happened. There may be some delay in the audio, but it actually sounds to me like the trooper got the first shot off as the suspect was still executing his draw...Rock on.

wish this happened more often. Buckshot is cheaper than a prison sentence and we don't have to worry about watered down sentences. A sudden loss of blood pressure in the bad guy settles the matter.
