Sounds like a repeat of the Bill Fleming case here in Oklahoma years ago.

I think the Fleming case was different. Fleming supposedly purchased 6 transferable machine guns from an individual and transferred them tax free to law enforcement agencies to avoid paying $1200 in transfer taxes. The guns were immediately then transferred out tax free. That was a long time ago, but I believe that is pretty close to how he ended up getting charged.

That was just part. They covered up the rest. Several people were involved in the shenanigans and went off to jail. He was just the most well known.
