I wish I could go. I'm only just starting to think about having a 72hr bag put together. If i can get a bunch of stuff together, i might still try for it but if not, I'll try for a later one.

ShooterDave - I think you have a decent business venture idea, here. You could start doing this for money. I bet you would make out okay, with the number of people who seem to be interested in prepping, nowdays. Just makesure you give us OSA members a discount.

Tim. While I do agree with you in theory, I have several reservations... 1. I'm two hours from any major metroplex. 2. The land that I have is limited and I am not willing to dedicate it to any commercial application. 3. I enjoy doing this type of thing, and I believe that if I tried to profit financially from it, it would take the fun out of it. 4. I really don't have the time to do it properly. 5. I'm lazy. 6. I'd rather share with those who I feel to be not only appreciative, but also those who have something to share, as well.

I'm in this to learn as much from others and get different perspectives just as much as I'm in it to share my knowledge and skills. BTW, you don't have to have a full-on BOB to attend, just enough stuff to live for a weekend. A big part of this is about learning what works and what does not. Many of those wanting to attend are still a ways from having what they believe they need to have to make it in a TEOTWAWKI situation, myself included. I think many are wanting to try what they have, see what they need, trade ideas, get the hell away from home for a weekend, and listen to BB entertain us with her wisdom..er..humor..er..sarcasm..well, you know! Lol.

Ohhhh, I'm glad to see you finally got to the "meat" of my existence. If folks learn something from me I suspect it is by accident! LOL ... but I do love me some good banter! :) I guess I'll have to tone it down and leave the spirits at home as it seems we are gonna have some youngsters, but that's okay ... For somebody who says they don't like kids, it seems I'm always the first one to the mudhole to stomp around and make a mess ... We'll have a GREAT time regardless of the rating ... :)

When I say I'm just now starting to look at it, I mean I don't own a tent, sleeping bag or anything remotely out-doorish besides my tackle box and fishing pole. I got bit by the outdoor bug earlier this year and it started with the fishing. I have exactly nothing to camp with at all. I like this idea but it's gonna have to wait a bit, for me.

Newer member here and I find that this would be an invaluable experience and as time gets closer I plan on making it.

I have started on my BOB and prep plans so would love to attend.

Just curious as to where we're at with a headcount. Ive got a small tent that works for me. Ive also got a big 3 room coleman. Its not something Id bug out with, but if someone doesnt have everything to "bugout", i dont mind bringing all my camping stuff.

Now might be a good time to kick around some logistic ideas.

GC and I are in ... We have a small 2 person tent and a bigger one, too, so we could "cover" somebody also. It's kinda heavy (to me anyway, but that may be because of my neck) but we could make it work if someone needs to borrow it.

Not that I'm volunteering to be the camp maid, mind you, but do we want to bring the stuff to cook one big meal for everyone at night, or just every body do their own thing? I'm sure we could scrounge up a dutch oven (or three) -- we have one -- and cook up a main course in one, biscuits in another and dessert in a third ... Again, not something I'd bug out with but if there's gonna be a bunch of us, might as well work together ... Be good for the kiddos to participate in too ... I'm thinking some graham crackers, hersheys bars and marshmallows might be in order ...

I think I remember Dave saying he had water covered ...
