I thought it was reserved for areas with trout but I guess some fly fish here in Oklahoma?
First of all Oklahoma stocks trout in several rivers, streams and ponds. Beyond that you can fly fish for dang near anything and river fly fishing for smallies is something a lot of okies do.

There's a first class fly fishing outfitter in OKC https://jdadamsco.com/

Fly fishing is just another way of fishing. Much like bow hunting or black powder is just another way of hunting. More primitive.

There is one guide on Texoma that will take you fly fishing for striped bass.

I enjoy it. It requires patience, knowledge and skill that is different than bait casting, spin casting and bobber fishing. Not harder, just different.

I love to fish and I started fly fishing about 7 years ago just for a new challenge. I’m not particularly good at it yet but, it is a lot of fun.

Fly fishing farm ponds is a blast, I just don't get many wind free days to do it. We've fly fished from tubes early morning for sand bass feeding on top too, definitely the most fun I've had with a fly rod. Haven't done that in years.
