Give me some thoughts. Has to be mag length. Experiences, loads...
I have a new 1/7 barrel that won't shoot the light stuff(55/62gn) so I am thinking about loading some heavier bullets(69-77gn) for it
Or I am gonna pull it an put a different twist (1/8 or 1/9) barrel in it.

My buddy loads 77s for his and it shoots lights out.
77gr SMK, 24gr Varget, 2.260 is the load he told me he uses that shoots well in all of his rifles and exceptionally in a few.
I think its a bit on the hot side but works well so take it for what its worth.

18” 1:8 wylde chamber. Magnetospeed registers them out the end of the can at about 2650.
24.1 gr re15 loaded to just have daylight gap in my mags (don’t recall length as it’s done on a 650) 77 gr smk (no tip)
Lake city brass with the usual prep on the cases, cci 400
This is an extremely repeatable load, out past 500 it doesn’t have much steam left but in closer it really performs.

I using 77gr Hornady and I think 25 gr of varget (need to look at my notes). The key is having the right twist, I have WOA upper and it shoot lights out. I chrono that particular load and I had good velocity and accuracy.

I have some questions if ya don't mind...

1. Why don't they work? Is it because the lighter bullets are traveling too fast for that much twist?

2. Was there a noticeable difference in accuracy between the 55 and the 62 in the 1:7 barrel?

Just curious, thanks.

They functon but I don't consider basketball Size groups to work for me out of a new barrel.
I'm going to try some different weights in this barrel but I have a feeling I will ultimately pull it and go with something 1/8 or 1/9 because most(of my ammo and ammo in general) ammo is in the range that those twists shoot better on average.
