Anyone remember the TV show “Combat” with Vic Morrow?

yep...loved that show. I think it was that show that made me want and M1 carbine.....think the Lt carried it. Reminded me of Vic's demise. So I read, while shooting a scene for a Viet Nam movie, a pyrotechnic for the scene caused a helicopter's rotors to delaminate causing it to crash......decapitating Vic and killing 2 others.

We watched those shows on a crappy black & white TV.

Yep, and I was also the remote, plus go outside and turn antenna between Tulsa (ch. 2, 6, 8) and OKC (4, 5, 9) depending on what channel wanted to watch.
IIRC, a lot of those shows were aired in B&W back then, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, etc.

Then the smart-alec grunt replied,,,
"Once is all it takes, doesn't it?"

You are close, the movie was "Twilight Zone: The Movie". If I remember correctly, the helicopter crashed shooting a flashback to VietNam scene. Or something like that.

Yep, remember dad watching that, Rat Patrol and Victory at Sea. Rat Patrol always made me want a Willys Jeep. And I was the remote also.
