Then the spines wiggle their way in deeper. Hurt pretty bad when you have to rip them out, too! Better do it quick or it gets worse!

Ok I use to work across the street at two rivers. I'll keep you updated on the ripening. Probably another month or 2 before they're ready if I had to guess.

While I'm out here b!tching about my scalped lawn thought I'd post up a pic of the pears. Idk when they are ripe to pick. I'm assuming when they turn purple.
That would be correct! Do you know how to prepare them to eat? Burn the spines off. Old West folks used a campfire and tongs or sticks to hold them.
