AR-15 chamber gauge

My AR is a Windham and the barrel is stamped 5.56 but after reading about this gauge I thought is was a smart idea to check it before shooting mil spec 5.56. And... sure enough, it's off.

If you are really concerned, then you should contact the mfr before trying to modify the rifle yourself.

What model do you have? To my understanding if its a chrome lined barrel you cannot recut the chamber or throat. I appears that Windham Weaponry might use the Compass Lake headspace spec which is tighter than 5.56 Nato. Note that the WW website show that their chambers are .223/5.56 Nato compatible.

I have only shot .223 through it

It's just the basic MPC model. I might call and see if I can get someone on the phone at WW that might give me a little insight before ripping metal out of it

If it was mine, I would just shoot it. I am willing to bet that it would be fine.

I have shot a lot a different AR's and never bothered to check one. And all were ok.

I had a mini 14 that was 223 stamped, shot 5.56 dead on, 223 was low and left about 1/2" at 100 yards
