trdoc, that's pretty much exactly what we did, just over the weekend instead of taking our time. Since we are painting everything, and putting in new flooring in the entire house, we figured no better time than now.

Just feel comfortable that whatever you replace it with, will be found to cause cancer in 20 years.

Concrete dust (silica sand) is supposed to be the new asbestos.

I always make sure not to breath in the cloud of dust when mixing concrete. Just made sense not to.
