I received a letter from AT&T stating that they are switching my internet service to U-Verse. That new equipment will also be needed for this service. About 3/4 of the way through the letter it also states that my monthly usage will increase from 150 GB to 250 GB. As far as I can remember, I have never had a maximum amount of GB usage and I've been with this service since 2000.

Does anyone know if this move to U-Verse is manditory?

They were by here yesterday. Said they just upgraded a bunch of stuff. You're probably getting better service than what they subcontracted you out to dish, or whatever, before when they didn't have fiber to your area. Maybe?

think the only scam is the GB usage and the fact that they want me to agree to another contract. I think the internet providers have found a way to capitalize on peoples need for the internet and are going to the GB usage limits to ding them for extra money. I am very happy with what I have, as far as internet service. No limits on GB usage and I am happy with the speed.

Not fair to penalize the loyal customer. They should apply usage to new customers only. I would call them. I know they grandfathered unlimited usage to cell phone users. I bet they will let you stay unlimited as well if you just keep them for your provider. I would just call and ask.

I worked for AT&T until last year. I currently have AT&T Uverse TV and internet. They don't restrict your usage just your speed. Uverse internet is fiber optic and faster than DSL.
