I went to my dealer here in Shawnee and he filed one the other day and got the 90 approval time. Hopefully it is that fast. However, I am still trying to decide on buying a commercial can or just making another one through Quiet Bore. I really like the 9mm can I made. It works great and don’t cost much. Plus it’s user serviceable. Many of the commercial cans are not. My dealer had a YHM R9 that is a multi caliber can. It is $450. It’s supposed to knock .308 down to almost 130 decibels. 9mm is about 127 and 300 blackout was around 132. I don’t shoot much of my AK or AR’s because I don’t want to use the ammo. And I know 556 don’t suppress that great anyway. I’m pretty much leaning into making another form one with quiet bore. I’ll probably get the .30 caliber can so I can use it on my AK and AR’s. I don’t see the need to pay all that money for a commercial can when I can make one myself for under $650. And it’s a user serviceable can. My last form 1 which was in August took 12 days to approve.
Those numbers don’t quite add up to me on the dB ratings you were given. .308 quieter than .300 that was designed to be subsonic and quiet?

And, you’re probably not getting a Form 1 back in 12 days currently. Last I checked, over 100 days. I submitted one in early Nov and the credit card still hasn’t been processed. ETA: I went back and checked it and ATF $200 cleared on 11.9.2021, so must’ve just missed it on the cc statement.

Those numbers are from YHM’s website. I have no idea if the R9 will go that low on some of the calibers. I’m just gonna go with another QB kit. I watched a video silencer student put out their .30 caliber can and I was impressed by the reduction. He was getting around 132 on a 10.5” AR.

Updating: Form 1 SBR came back approved on 2.18.22. So, right about 100 days or so from cc processing.

On Reddit, there are a bunch of folks showing their eForm 4 approvals today. It looks like ATF eForm 4's are starting to get approved. Most of them I've seen were submitted the first week of January. Mine was on January 15th. Fingers crossed. If the wait ends up being 60-70 days, this could get really expensive. In the meantime, the SP5 is lonely and waiting it's new best friend to arrive.
