At some point, I think station wagons shrank into utility vehicles......or whatever. Just get a low mileage hearse. Haul yer stuff around in peace, and if anyone tries to break into your car, stuff 'em in the 'tool box' and properly dispose of them. Might keep you ahead of line in traffic jams too. Just turn on the headlights.
