Just my 2cents.

Even though I use to live there..NO to Galveston, Texas...it's just not that good.

1st...if it's just a vacation and your not worried about swimming in the ocean...I'd skip summer..sun burn and miserable heat and avoid crowds.

2. Where ever you pick..research it..hot months, rainy months, nice weather months and what is there to do besides the beach.

3. If you like the South...research Biloxi, Mississippi or Pensacola Florida. The reason I like Biloxi is Florida isn't to far, Biloxi has okay beaches and there is other things to do...gamble, take a boat to Ship Island an see a Confederate Defense Fort on an island...casinos have entertainment and gambling. Watch the heat and spring break kiddos.... look up casinos amd see if u can get a good room and eat their buffets.

2. Texas..the beaches are okay... Padre Island in okay..watch the rainy season and spring breakers.

3. Southern California...Huntington Beach to San Diego...very nice. But in warm seasons it's crowded.
The great thing about So.Cal. is a ton of other things to do..Baja Mexico, Los Angeles, Catalina Island..and a ton of other stuff.

4. Baja Mexico...Cabo...it has turned into a tourist town..but thats a good thing. Nice hotels, excellent fishing, whale watching in season, diving, night life. Cabo is safe..just don't venture off into the desert by yourself...they'll find you...naked, no money, dehydrated, and confused.

Thats all I got..Gulf Coast..Biloxi or Panhandle of Florida. Southern California and Baja.

Just remember..seasons, crowds, and safety.

Enjoy

I lived in Florida for a couple years in Miami. The best place to see big water was the Keys back then.
As for the west coast I'd suggest the Golden Coast in Oregon.

whew...you will get 100+ opinions, but great topic.

I got married at Pismo beach, beautiful there. SeaCrest Hotel.
I've been to Cabo, not great beaches, but great views. Melia Real, Riu Palace are places I've stayed.
best beach I ever rested my feet on was Lido delle Nazioni near Venice, Italy. Might want to save up for that one. But it sits on the Mediterranean Sea. I was lucky enough to be stationed in at Aviano for that one.
And you have Hawaii, if you go the smaller islands it can be quit peaceful. If you like busier places and like to people watch, Waikiki is your spot.

Florida is nice, white sands..someone said Destin (can't go wrong with Destin) They have a place called AJ's bar, it's overrated like me.
As far as Florida goes, I prefer St. Pete. So much to do and super fresh seafood. Crabby Bills, Toasted Monkey and Frescos are a few of my favorites. Of course there are so many places to eat. Hell, you can eat at Don Cesars if you wanna class it up. Go catch a pro football, baseball or hockey game when is season or go in March and catch Spring training ball.

My in-laws live in Charlotte, they rave about Hilton Head, I've never been...we plan to go this summer.
You could white trash it up and hit the jersey shore.

good luck man...

I like to consider Newport Beach my second home. A lot of people near Balboa pier and Newport pier, so we go a little north and park at West Newport park at 57th and Seashore Dr right off of PCH. Very few people on the beach there. Don't forget sunscreen.

Destin FL.

Easy quick drive, beautiful beaches, great fishing and food.

Stay here: http://www.destinseafarer.com/

This place is great, only 3 stories high, underground parking, every room has a balcony to the beach, its perfect.

This could be your view when you awaken.

Destin is a great place! I lived there for 5 years, resonable drive, rates not to bad, food is great! Go after Labor Day 9/1/14 to save on lodging and the crowds go WAY down. I'm sure you will have a blast where ever you decide!

Im born and raised in San Diego, Ca; spent my 20s in the San Francisco bay area; my daughter is on the big island in Hawaii where we own family property; but, where my brother lives near Monterey is my favorite place on the planet.
