Black Friday Gun Sales Set Record
3:54 PM 11/29/2012

.."A new single-day record for point-of-sale background checks was established on Black Friday, November 23, when 154,873 were conducted by the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). That total was nearly 20 percent more than the previous high of 129,166 set on Black Friday last year. Since a federal background check is mandatory for every firearm sold at retail, background check activity serves as an indicator of retail gun sales."..

I wonder how many changed hands that did not require a federal check(probably just as many). I know CA is responsible for at least 10k of those reported sales, and it would be interesting to see the numbers broke down state by state.

The Obama administration and the gun grabbing libs are once again showing their prowess in selling guns.

From the article:....."The new one-day record was not unexpected, as NSSF pointed out in a recent blog post, given reports of increased gun sales following the election of President Barack Obama to a second term:censored: and also hunting license sales increasing:woohoo1:.".....

What I would really like to see is the progression of that number over the last 20 years. Ok so it's up 20% over last year. Is that a-typical? Is the usual progression 5% increase year over year?

I talked to a Canadian today and he said that in Canada even if you buy a shotgun for HD you NEVER say that is the purpose you are buying it for. Not matter if it's a chainsaw handled Mossy 500, you are planning to shoot waterfowl, rabbits, and squirrels with it...He brought up a valid point. The thinking behind that is that in Canada they somehow keep track of those buying for leisure shooting and those buying for sporting/hunting purposes. In the event there was ever a grab at firearms those who bought for leisure purposes would lose them first. The right of people to take part in the long and deeply rooted past time of hunting would be the last reason for the government to take their guns. So apparently the Canadians are already buying guns on the premise that they will be taken away.

If you don't have your OK hunting license, might as well get it. At least then you can claim you use your guns for hunting. Without a license it's a tough case to make. The safety course is free, online, and doesn't take long to complete. The hunting license is around $32.
