What I would really like to see is the progression of that number over the last 20 years. Ok so it's up 20% over last year. Is that a-typical? Is the usual progression 5% increase year over year?

I talked to a Canadian today and he said that in Canada even if you buy a shotgun for HD you NEVER say that is the purpose you are buying it for. Not matter if it's a chainsaw handled Mossy 500, you are planning to shoot waterfowl, rabbits, and squirrels with it...He brought up a valid point. The thinking behind that is that in Canada they somehow keep track of those buying for leisure shooting and those buying for sporting/hunting purposes. In the event there was ever a grab at firearms those who bought for leisure purposes would lose them first. The right of people to take part in the long and deeply rooted past time of hunting would be the last reason for the government to take their guns. So apparently the Canadians are already buying guns on the premise that they will be taken away.

If you don't have your OK hunting license, might as well get it. At least then you can claim you use your guns for hunting. Without a license it's a tough case to make. The safety course is free, online, and doesn't take long to complete. The hunting license is around $32.

The purpose of the second amendment is not to preserve hunting or sporting with firearms. It's original intent was to ensure that we are protected from a tyrannical government, period. SCOTUS has already affirmed that right(at least within ones home) in DC vs Heller.... hopefully soon we will have a court case(or legislation) that expand upon that and include carry. I see the court battle as a better chance(right now at least), but that also depends on who retires in the next 4 years......

If you think anyone in office gives a hoot about you and your rights you are your signature.

Wouldn't having firearms on the same level as the military put us on a more level playing field if we are supposed to defend ourselves? We are already limited and if the .gov had their way we would be further limited to bolt action rifles and those of the same sort with mags limited to 5 rounds.

Don't kid yourself, while the founding father's may have meant for it to be to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, that is not how current people in office view it.

This is way off topic so I will stop now, but open your eyes.

I'm not blind to it, I know what you are saying and agree. That doesn't change the statement one bit(the purpose of the 2nd). I know it has been restricted and the battle continues, but we have made more progress in the last 10 years than they anti's have. Its a slow chess game because there is little to no chance to get good federal legislation(although state legislation has come a long way), but the Heller and McDonald cases were huge wins and the shift back our way continues. There are far too many guns in the US and if they try and ban them, there would be civil war........no doubt. The slow degradation of rights has proven successful throughout history, but to me it looks like we(as a pro gun community) are pushing back and winning more times than not(except in few cases like CA). Concealed carry and Open carry laws have been getting better and better, and unless there is a dramatic shift in the supreme court, I don't see that trend changing that much anytime soon.
