What happens when you buy a gun

3:00 am. No knock warrant so your front door comes crashing in.
You and your wife, both naked in bed, now in cuffs are escorted in front of a dozen officers, TV cameras and spotlights.
Warrant says you registered 25 firearms through an FFL. You need to prove you don't still own them so we are going to bust open your safe and rip your home apart until the government is secure in their knowledge you no longer own those firearms.
WAIT! What is this firearm!
You know the rest of the story and don't think this won't happen. It's already happened to more than one gun owner.

Nail on the head for worst case scenario, to me.
"Yes we see here Mr Tom by our records you have 5 longguns and 2 handguns. Oh boating accident yaya, sold them oh yaya, NRA life member yaya. Well Mr Tom we are going to punish you in some way until we locate these firearms you failed to keep up with. Once you provide us with information or information to find other firearms you'll get your rights back and can have some cake."
I don't even need a tinfoil hat to see that scenario playing out. Heck have you ever talked to the IRS? Bad information has never stopped our government.

Actually it has happened. And two people are dead because of it. The “boys in blue” didn’t hesitate to murder them. But hey, they were just following orders. When it comes down to it, the police are NOT on our side. It’s easy to joke about these scenarios but keep in mind, the government will do ANYTHING to disarm us.

A whole two people? You’re starting to sound like one of those folks that wants to defund the police. Which is strangely familiar to the logic that we should ban all guns because someone shot up a school full of kids.

how does it work with 2 stripped lowers? If I want the option to use them for AR pistols do I need to declare that when picking up from the ffl and do all the extra stuff?

Most will just mark Other when they mark it

If you bought them as stripped lowers, they are marked "other" and you can build either a pistol or rifle with them. If you buy a completed rifle, it can not be anything other than a legal rifle unless you register it as a SBR (which has to be done before you actually convert it). I believe if you buy a completed pistol it can be converted back to a legal rifle, but I'm not 100% on that part.

You really should do some research on the topic. The police showing up at the wrong house and end up in a shoot out with the homeowner happens more often than you think. Now you can take that into left field and run with it if you'd like but facts are facts.
