So my buddy said if you go out there after speed week, the surface is still very well groomed and is the best time for a guy to go out there by himself and really get to see what his car will do if you don't care about any official timing. I have it on good authority that my SRT8 Magnum should top out at 186mph (when speed limiter is removed, which mine is). It sure seems like with a few mods, some gearing via taller and skinnier tires and enough road (aka lots of salt) a guy could break 200 mph in his station wagon "pretty easily".

I'm really thinking about trying to do a few things to my car and making a trip out there to watch some races next year and stick around for a few days and see what the old Wagon will do.

I think the Charger 5.7 will go 180.

Had a pontiac sunbird 4 cylinder 5 speed stock 135 MPH.
You should be able to hit 186 easy.

Look here 160+ mph and I let out at 6500 and know it will pull to 7000.
This is old school junk and 150 was normal driving.

And it does not make near the power you have @adamsredlines

My 5.7 Magnum was pretty done at about 160. I don't think a 5.7 charger would gain another 20 mph over the Magnum since they are basically the same platform. My 6.1 Magnum has a little bit more power but the gearing is more for bottom ends not top end and that's why I would want a little bit taller tire. 5.7 cars were 2.82 gear and 6.1 cars were 3.06.

I'm not sure if you ever ran those speeds on the street or if it was all on dino stuff but I would think that there's a bit of a difference between the two since the dyno takes out aerodynamics and weight I would think. Yeah the 6.1 has quite a bit more power but it is also not as aerodynamic and with me in it would weigh probably 4600 to 4,700 lb if I could take some of the additional weight out of the interior.

I figured if I didn't wash my car before I left, I would have a nice layer of dust and mud from these dirt roads in Nebraska to help protect my paint LOL

Yep I have been following the Bloodhound project, it really sucks that the whole thing went south but I really do hope that they can get it finished up. I know they have already done over 600 miles an hour in test runs and still have a long way to go with the power they have planned so hopefully it actually comes to fruition.
The Aussie car looks like The Blue Flame on steroids, it has a huge rocket in it with I don't how much thrust. I think he has enough power to do it but I don't know how stable the car will be at that speed or if they can get it turned around and refueled to make another run in an hour. I can't wait til they try it. Pretty neat that guys still have the passion and the nuts to try something like that! The Brit car was smaller than the one they set the record with but it had a rocket as a booster. I think there going after the water speed record now since this deal went south.

Yes the one on the dyno would cruise easy at 150 street and ran 15 miles at 6500 rpm on highway with
3.25 gears and 28.9" tall tire 1:1 final drive and it would go 500 rpm more but just following an all black vette and that was as fast as he was going and I was not in a bigger hurry than he was.

Lets play math.
336 is a given.
336 X MPH X gear ratio divided by tire diameter = RPM
Now allow some for converter slippage if you do not have a lock up converter.

336 X 160 X 306 divided by 28.5 = 5772 RPM
Now your car should have .83 overdrive so 5772 X .83 = 4,790 RPM

Yea aero and even wheel drag or out of balance driveshaft will kill top end on a vehicle.

Had a 78Nova that would run 7600+ rpm but dead head at 6000 in high.
It was the puny 2 something inch driveshaft reaching or passing critical RPM.

I had a shaft built and fixed that now 7600 rpm in high.
370 gear 31" tall tire and I was moving at 7600 rpm.

8 psi in those rear Hoosiers and quite scary when I completely backed off the throttle at that speed.
Took me less than a 1/2 second to stab that throttle back to the floor and eliminate the bouncy ball
effect.
That was the first time I went that fast but not the last it took that Nova 3/4 of a mile to get there.

I admire high speed and Respect for high speed needs to be a given.
High pucker factor.

My Nova was very aerodynamic and low and had a belly pan to the center crossmember to keep air out from under the hood.
It was very light also compared to new cars 2,780 without me in it.
Still had a trailer hitch and it got a lot of use.
